Sint-Andries Hospital in Tielt opens Sports Medical Center

GROWING DEMAND FOR MEDICAL GUIDANCE

Sports is and remains healthy, but the demand for medical guidance and sports advice continues to grow. Due to this rising demand, a brand new Sports Medical Center was set up.

Special guest Michael Vanthourenhout was also invited to the opening. He was allowed to defy some obstacles and take a cycling test under the supervision of an exercise physiologist.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY COOPERATION

The center aims to refer athletes with problems faster and more efficiently and to offer better screening and prevention.

The cardiology, pneumology, physical medicine, orthopedics and medical imaging services work together on a multidisciplinary basis to bundle expertise. The presence of advanced technology and devices across the services ensures a more complete approach to the athlete, where targeted referrals can be made if necessary. The Sports Medical Center thus represents a great added value for every athlete from Tielt and the surrounding area.
