Sunday’s squatter against Feyenoord was hardly discussed in and around the stadium of FC Volendam on Friday. Journalists and those involved in the club mainly talked about the evening before: the information evening in De Jozef. “It was quite an impressive one.”
“I expected these tensions and I don’t get confused”, trainer Wim Jonk looks back on the intense information evening. “I think it was enlightening.”
The players of FC Volendam were not present in De Jozef last night. They were informed of what was happening through other channels. For example, striker Henk Veerman followed the ups and downs of the meeting via Twitter. “This is annoying and nobody benefits from this.”

“It will not affect us,” says Veerman about the consequences of this administrative crisis. “This is not from yesterday and it is a pity that it goes like this. Only as long as it does nothing to the group of players, you will not hear us about it.”

Then to Sunday’s match in Rotterdam against Feyenoord. “I’m looking forward to it and I have a good feeling about it.” Said an optimistic Henk Veerman in the run-up to the confrontation with the leader of the Eredivisie. Whether the long attacker will play is still the question. However, he was back in the base against FC Emmen (3-1 win) last weekend. “I was very happy with that and I think I was pretty good at it.”

Midfielders Florent Sanchez and Carel Eiting were missing from Friday practice due to minor injuries. This weekend, the medical staff of FC Volendam will see if they can make it to Feyenoord. Trainer Wim Jonk was quite positive and expects to have the pair. Brain Plat also trained partly separately from the group, but that does not seem to cause any problems. However, the suspended Gaetano Oristanio will be missing on Sunday.
Feyenoord – FC Volendam starts on Sunday at 8 p.m.
