Mayor Diksmuide insists: “finally turn on route controls”
The installation is, however, ready, but the Regional Center that has to process the fines has too few people and resources. And there the shoe pinches.
Wherever one goes along Diksmuidse roads, one encounters section controls. There are as many as nine. Some have been there for almost 5 years, but they have never worked. Some, such as the one in Esenweg, are already broken.
The problem lies with the Regional Processing Center. That has a deal with the Polder police zone for 17,000 findings. But the zone is already there with its classic speed cameras and mobile controls. If the section controls worked, that number of fines would at least double. And the processing center doesn’t have enough people for that.
