De Literaire Hemel opens Boekenweek with Wim Daniëls

Wim Daniëls, Jan Veenstra and Marco Daane will be guests on Friday 10 January during De Literaire Hemel in café De Amer in Amen.

Daniels comes to talk about his book The wondrous story of a silent adventurer about the deaf and dumb Albert Sutherland-Royards, who as a botanist and entrepreneur meant a lot to Assen and Drenthe, but traveled the wide world by bicycle.

Jan Veenstra, who lives in Linde, and who is also a former columnist of this newspaper, is interviewed about his new novel, set in Drenthe. The faded kite a ‘joyful life story about mourning, obsession and melancholy’.

Life and work of a double talent

Marco Daane wrote the biography of Jac. van Looy (1855-1930), for a long time best known for the classic Jack , but now more famous as a painter. In Monsieur le Coloriste Van Looy’s nickname, Daane sheds new light on the life and work of this dual talent.
