President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a meeting with athletes preparing to participate in the Beijing Olympic Games. The head of state, among others, talked with the Russian team hockey player Yegor Yakovlev.
The hockey team player thanked everyone who helped the team in preparation for the Games and made a promise: “We will make every effort, our skills and abilities to defend the current title of Olympic champions.”
Putin responded: “As the champion of the PyeongChang Games, you know how the country reacts to what the hockey team does on the ice. Winter sports in Russia are loved: hockey, figure skating, other types. But hockey is still the most loved,” the president said on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24” and media platforms “Looking”.
“We know that there are no easy matches at the Games. We will sincerely cheer for you. We proceed from the fact that our athletes in general will do everything possibleto prove the class of the Russian sports school”.
Recall that the Olympic Games in Beijing will start on February 4. Earlier it was reported that the President of the country will also visit the Olympic capital and take part in opening ceremony competitions.
