Carhartt Launches “Carhartt Reworked” Resale Program

Streetwear brand Carhartt launches Carhartt Reworked resale program.

The offering will support the company on its journey to sustainability by creating a circular resale model that extends the life of its durable products and reduces textile waste, Carhartt said on Wednesday.

Carhartt Reworked will focus on consumer trade-in products, returns, and defective inventory. Depending on their condition and quality, these are either reworked and offered for sale on the Reworked Carhartt website or recycled.

However, submitted items must be no more than ten years old and must have originally cost more than 50 US dollars (around 47 euros). Accepted product categories are outerwear, shirts, dungarees, coveralls, hoodies, sweatshirts and pants.

For the new resale program, Carhartt is working with the service platform of the US provider Trove. Trove is also used by other apparel and sporting goods companies such as Patagonia, Lululemon, Arc’teryx, Levi’s and On.

The offer is currently being tested in six stores in the USA. Customers who hand in goods there will receive a credit note. The program is expected to expand to all Carhartt retail stores later this year. Then it should also be possible to submit articles online.
