The Rhein-Neckar Löwen continue to put pressure on the favorites in the Bundesliga handball title fight. The Mannheimers came to a sovereign 34:24 (21:8) victory against HSG Wetzlar and, as second in the table, now have 37:7 points.
Should leaders Füchse Berlin (37:5) lose the top game at defending champion SC Magdeburg (31:7) on Sunday, the Löwen would even take the lead in the table.
In front of 6137 spectators in Mannheim, the hosts showed their class, especially in the first half. National player Juri Knorr was the top scorer with six goals in coach Sebastian Hinze’s team, who happily made a substitution after the change.
