Severe crash with cowardly escape from the accident. In Mariendorf, a driver first hit a cyclist, then crashed into a Mercedes.
First, an Opel drove over a cyclist on Thursday night on Rathausstrasse in Mariendorf – the driver had overlooked the man.
The collision threw the cyclist onto the road. Witnesses alerted the emergency call, paramedics treated the accident victim and took him to a hospital with serious injuries.
The Opel driver immediately fled without paying any attention to the injured man on the street. He raced on to Manteuffelstrasse.
There, at around 12:10 a.m., he crashed into the rear of a Mercedes waiting at a traffic light. The Opel driver himself was injured by the force of the impact. He was also taken to a clinic for treatment.
The driver of the accident is said to have been drunk. According to initial findings, other occupants were injured in the accident. A police department specializing in traffic offenses began reconstructing the accident that morning. The investigations are ongoing.
Truck overruns cyclist (81) – dead

The driver of the semi-trailer truck drove from a construction site property to Saargemünder Straße around 11 a.m. The 27-year-old turned left in the direction of Freie Universität Berlin, overlooking the cyclist. She was on the Saargemünder Strasse cycle lane in the direction of Clayallee.
The 81-year-old fell and got under the tractor. The elderly woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the accident was in shock and needed medical attention.
While the accident was being recorded, Saargemünder Strasse between Clayallee and Bitscher Strasse was closed until the afternoon.
Relatives and residents laid flowers at the scene of the accident on Thursday and set up a cross. The police investigation into the accident is ongoing.
