The English Setter Bisbee has been declared the dog with the longest tongue. The record is recorded in the Guinness World Records directory, where different record results and events are presented every year. The information book tells about the longest language on record on their website.
Bisbee’s tongue is said to be 9.49 centimeters long. The official measurement was performed by a veterinarian. The length is measured with the tongue hanging outside the muzzle, so that measuring it is still pleasant for the dog.
Guinness World Records published a video of the dog and its owners on its Twitter account. If you don’t see the embed, you can watch it from here.
Owners of Bisbee Jay and Erica Johnson say that they bought the dog as a puppy from charity sellers. The dog’s personality and the amount of love, or rather the size, come out especially in the form of kisses given by the dog.
The owners, who live in Tucson, USA, say that they fell in love with the dog at first sight. However, they quickly noticed that the dog has slightly peculiar proportions. However, when the dog holds its muzzle closed, the special tongue is not visible, but when panting or otherwise yawning, the tongue sticks out easily.
The family measured the length of their dog’s tongue properly for the first time while the animal was sedated. Bisbee has a congenital hip defect. The 3-year-old dog’s other hip has already had to be amputated.
The previous record for the longest tongue in a living dog was found in a Saint Bernard named Mochi. The deceased dog’s tongue measured a whopping 18.58 centimeters.
