Motorist uses laughing gas at paramedics and destroys his car

Two ambulance employees discovered a man on the Engelsweg in Helmond on Saturday night who used laughing gas while sitting in his car. The car stopped on the road around a quarter to one with hazard lights on.

To make sure everything was okay, the paramedics spoke to him. During the conversation, the driver inhaled laughing gas balloons several times. Not much later he drove to a gas station. The paramedics put their vehicle in front of his car, so that he could not drive away.

Oil trail
There was an oil trail on the road because the man had hit something on the way to the gas station, which damaged the underside of the vehicle.

Police discovered by following the trail that the man had swerved across the road and also crossed a footpath.

The motorist has been arrested. His car and the nitrous oxide bottle have been seized. An employee of a tow company towed the vehicle away and cleaned up the oil trail.
