One day after the disappointment on the pommel horse, Nils Dunkel made it into the final on parallel bars at the Masters Tournament in Cottbus, which is part of the World Cup. The 29-year-old, third at the European Championships on the pommel horse, finished fifth in the second qualification on Friday with 14.466 points.
“I’m definitely super happy with my parallel bars exercise, that makes up for my mistake on the horse,” said Dunkel. The day before he had missed the final round on his special device after a technical error.
On floor, World Cup debutant Anna-Lena König reached the final in seventh place with 13,000 points. Local hero Tom Schultze qualified for the final round in fifth place on the vaulting table with 14.566 points.
European champion Elisabeth Seitz, World Cup debutant Meolie Jauch (both uneven bars) and Milan Hosseini (floor) had already secured a final ticket on Thursday.
The Tournament of Masters has been held for 50 years and is the first international artistic gymnastics highlight in the pre-Olympic season. Lukas Dauser, Vice World Champion on parallel bars, is not at the start, he is still suffering from the consequences of a shoulder injury.
