Belgian bishops visit Ukraine
Bruges bishop Lode Aerts sees how relief goods from West Flanders are distributed among the population.
“We are in Irpin, near the cars where people were killed in the car itself. The bodies were left behind after those attacks. When the car wrecks were brought together, a sign of hope was painted on the destroyed cars. With the flowers, the next of kin show that peace and life is possible, even beyond death,” says Lode Aerts, bishop of Bruges.
The Belgian bishops, including Johan Bonny, are there at the invitation of the Greek Catholic faith community, with whom they will have a number of meetings later this week.
