Sale? Liverpool owner breaks silence

Liverpool FC from the English Premier League is not for sale, according to owner John Henry.

The 73-year-old American told the “Boston Sports Journal” in an interview conducted by email: “Are we going to sell LFC? No.”

He believes that something will happen at the English club of team manager Jürgen Klopp, but it will not be a sale, Henry emphasized.

With his investment company Fenway Sports Group, also owner of the American baseball team Boston Red Sox, he bought the traditional club in 2010.

However, Henry confirmed in the interview that they would be in talks with investors about the 2019 Champions League winner, who is coached by Germany’s Jurgen Klopp.

In November last year it was announced that the Fenway Sports Group was open to offers.

According to “The Athletic”, experts estimate the sales value at over five billion dollars (approx. 4.8 billion euros) – more than ten times the amount that FSG paid for the takeover.

Henry had not yet commented on the speculation. He rarely speaks in public.
