Grifone ahead with Dragusin after 4′, the Emilians come back with Strizzolo in the half hour. After Puscas’ own goal, red light arrives in Oukhadda and 5′ from the end Bani equalizes, keeping the rossoblù at +3 on Bari and Sudtirol
Four goals and many emotions in Braglia’s Sunday postponement. Modena and Genoa battled it out for 96 minutes, with overtaking and counter-overtaking. At the full whistle it’s 2-2, with Tesser and Gilardino contenting themselves with one point each. Dragusin signs the lightning advantage, then the hosts come back with a goal from Strizzolo and an own goal from Puscas. In the second half, Modena played in 10 for over half an hour (red in Oukhadda) and in the final they were grabbed by the flash of Bani. Genoa climbs to 43 points and on the weekend when the others slow down at the top (Frosinone, Bari and Sudtirol) maintains the lead (+3) on third place. Modena relaunches itself in a playoff key, eighth with 35 points.
The choices
—
Tesser aims for the third victory in a row and in attack he chooses Strizzolo, supported by the Falcinelli-Tremolada tandem. Gilardino wants to stretch further on his pursuers and relies on the trident made up of Aramu, Puscas and Gudmundsson. Ready, go and the Griffin immediately takes the lead. Aramu’s kissing corner, Gagno’s uncertainty and Dragusin’s winning advance (4′). Modena’s reaction was immediate: in the 14th minute Cittadini tries with his head but Martinez is careful. In the 22nd minute, Cittadini himself had to forfeit due to a muscle problem: Silvestri took his place. In the 24th minute Gudmundsson nearly doubled his lead from a free kick: Gagno flies. Modena equalized after half an hour: Strizzolo accompanies Poli’s percussion, receives the ball and scores (33′). Before the break, Genoa lost Boci due to a physical problem: the 19-year-old full-back (in his debut as starter) was replaced by the veteran Criscito.
recovery
—
At the start of the second half Modena puts the arrow and completes the comeback. On a poisonous cross from Tremolada, Puscas combines it big: in an attempt to sweep away, the Romanian forward sends the ball behind his goalkeeper (55′). Genoa immediately launches into attack. In the 58th minute Gudmundsson got the defense drunk and forced Oukhadda to do a last man foul on the edge of the area. The referee Mariani has no doubts and waves the red card in the face of the former Torino player. The inertia changes completely. And the Ligurian forcing takes off. In the 70th minute Gagno takes away Aramu’s poisonous shot from the crossing. While in the 80th minute substitute Coda (who came on for Puscas) grazed the post. Modena’s block falls one step away from the end: Bani disguises himself as a striker, falls on Coda’s cross and beats Gagno (85′). In the six minutes of added time the Gilardino gang pressed in search of the winning goal but the opponents weren’t surprised. The last chance happened on Aramu’s feet: Gagno swung wide and sealed the draw (94′).
