The Füchse Berlin have to do without their injured striker Hans Lindberg for a long time and have therefore spontaneously signed a substitute player. Former Austrian national player Robert Weber has joined the capital city club with immediate effect.
The 37-year-old comes from Olympiacos Piraeus and has a contract until the end of the season. Weber had previously been active in Germany for 14 years, ten of them for SC Magdeburg, where the right-winger matured into a top scorer. “We are grateful to Piraeus for releasing Robert Weber to us on moderate terms,” Foxes sports director Bob Hanning is quoted as saying in the club’s announcement.
Hans Lindberg is out for a long time after breaking his hand
The reason for the new signing is a broken hand of reigning top scorer Hans Lindberg. The Danish world champion fell during the European Cup trip in Spain this week, the club announced. After Valter Chrintz, the next right winger for Füchse Berlin is out.
In terms of sport, however, it was recently with the foxes. In the European League, the team is after Victory at Spanish club Bidasoa Irun on Wednesday unbeaten first in group, won all eight games so far. Before the last two group games, the foxes are already qualified for the round of 16.
The next task for the foxes is in the Bundesliga, on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) they play HSG Wetzlar at home, then also with Robert Weber.
