Actress Marijke Merckens has passed away, her family reported on Wednesday. Merckens became an instant celebrity in the first half of the sixties, as the sidekick of Wim Sonneveld, one of the greatest cabaret artists and singers of the past century. She was his aide-de-camp during the first of his three legendary one-man shows, after he discovered her working as a script supervisor for the Vara.
