The German hockey women celebrated their next success in the Pro League.
National coach Valentin Altenburg’s team beat China 3-0 (0-0) in Sydney on Tuesday (14 February 2023) thanks to three late goals. Germany also won the first game against China last Saturday (2-1).
“We are very happy that we won today”, said goalscorer Kira Horn, who scored the opening goal in the 48th minute: “We’ve made it our goal to play mainly on defence, to defend well and then play freely in attack. It took us a long time to score a goal, and it was great that it was 3-0 in the end.”
For the selection of the German Hockey Association (DHB), Kira Horn (48th minute), Charlotte Stapenhorst (52nd) and captain Nike Lorenz scored after a penalty corner (53rd). With eleven points from seven games, the DHB team is currently third in the table.
Finally against Australia again
On Wednesday (8.40 a.m. CET) Germany will play the last game in Sydney against the Australians. Two days ago the German women’s hockey team suffered a 0:3 defeat against the hosts. The next Pro League games are then scheduled for June 16 in London.
