Peter Jackson became the highest paid representative of show business according to Forbes

The top three included Peter Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z. Many of the participants in the rating got there through the full or partial sale of their companies or rights to music.

Forbes published ranking of the highest paid representatives of the entertainment industry for 2021.

First place Peter Jackson, the director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, took over: he earned $ 580 million in a year. In November, he sold part of his visual effects studio Weta Digital to Unity Software for $ 1.6 billion. Thanks to this deal, Jackson became the third billionaire director in history – after Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

On the second place turned out to be musician Bruce Springsteen, who in December sold all the rights to his music to the Sony Music Group label for about $500 million. Springsteen earned $435 million in a year.

Third place went to the first billionaire rapper Jay-Z, who earned $ 340 million in 2021. The musician sold his stake in the Armand de Brignac champagne brand to Moët Hennessy and his stake in the Tidal streaming service.
