Adana Demirsporlu football player David Akintola: I will not leave Turkey

Adana Demirspor’s Nigerian star David Akintola spoke to the press of his country. Describing his experiences during the earthquake, the 27-year-old actor explained those moments as follows:

“Right now it’s very scary because the death toll is rising. The city where my club is located was not really affected by the earthquake. I have never experienced this in my life. I saw people fleeing to protect their lives on TV. Adana is full of people who lost their homes, but we are trying to stay safe and we are trying to end this as soon as possible. We pray.”

“THERE IS FREEZING COLD”

“The living situation of the survivors is not good. When I look out the window, I see the survivors wrapped in blankets and trying to warm themselves around a fire. Because it’s freezing cold here. I thought the wall was being pierced during the earthquake. I stood by the window in case I had to escape. Then they called the club. and they said we are safe, we shouldn’t panic. My plan right now is to stay safe. The league has been postponed for a while. Also, the Turkish government declared a state of emergency, so I’m at home. But I’m still doing my training.”

“PRAY FOR US”

“We just live in fear and pray that this situation will pass. I do not intend to leave Turkey. I have a contract until the end of next season. I love playing in Turkey and I am happy that everything is going well as a player here. Athletes, women and I hope other people are rescued soon. I also offer my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the earthquake… Pray for us. We need your prayers to overcome this disaster. Onyekuru is safe too… I am very happy to play with him here.”
