And that’s what the CDU squad says

► Party chairman Friedrich Merz (67): “If the final spurt is like the last few weeks, then the result will be as we hope and Kai Wegner will be the governing mayor. And then I’m really proud of you – the Berliners.”

► Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (56): “Berlin simply deserves something better so that it can fight at eye level with Bavaria.”

► Top candidate Kai Wegner (50) shares against Bettina Jarasch (54, Greens): “Smear a bit of green paint on the road, which flows away when it rains, is not a good traffic policy for cyclists.”

For years, Berliners have lived in an “organized irresponsibility”.
