Rob Goossens has received a big slap on the wrist from RTL for wearing certain sweaters during the broadcasts of RTL Boulevard. “It had the Cavallaro logo on it very large.”
According to RTL 4, it is not the intention that channel stars appear on screen as a kind of talking advertising pole. The station was therefore not pleased when Rob Goossens suddenly stood at the desk of RTL Boulevard with all kinds of simple sweaters on which the Cavallaro brand name was written chest-wide.
Huge logo
Rob had made a deal with this clothing brand at the start of his Boulevard contract. “In the beginning I went to a brand, Cavallaro, a brand that I already had something of and of which I thought: they suit me. They just completely dressed me in the beginning, so everything I wore came from them,” he says in the BLVD Podcast.
That was ‘not always to the complete satisfaction of RTL’, Rob continues. “Then I was told again that the logo was too big.”
Colleague Luuk Ikink: “The Cavallaro logo. Yes, they are very generous with that.”
Blue sweater
The rules of RTL have been deliberately violated by Rob. “We received a list of: logos should not be bigger than so and so. I tried to stick to that, but then I had one sweater, a blue sweater, with large blue letters. But it’s blue on blue, so I thought, well, cuffs. But they found that fascinating.”
He continues: “At a certain point it really was a third app about the same sweater from our editor-in-chief. From: “Please don’t wear it anymore. This is only going to cause shit.’”
Own stylist
Nowadays Rob works with a stylist. “I’ve been working with a stylist since last fall and they just make sure I have enough sets. If I notice that I’m starting to get through it a bit, then I call and say: help, I need new clothes again.
Can he keep those clothes? “For me, it all just goes back to the store. Sometimes I like something so much that I buy it, but then I just have to pay for it. And there are also just things that I bought myself, so shoes for example. (…) I just bought it myself.”
Clothing money
Does he have to pay that stylist himself? “Unfortunately yes.”
Luuk, who is of course a much bigger star, doesn’t have to. “I have it in my contract that RTL arranges a stylist and that was discussed in the beginning. For me it falls under my contract.”
Rob: “Initially not for me, but it just costs a lot of money, so I have now been able to make a new appointment about it.”
