It seems that the forced radio separation of Coen Swijnenberg and Sander Lantinga has left deep traces. The gentlemen now make solo radio for Talpa, except for Friday afternoons, but they talk to them RTL News with remarkably little enthusiasm about it.

Big Coen Show

There is a long silence when the gentlemen are asked if they would like to present alone. Then Coen says: “You know, it’s not my ambition to just present, to have the big Coen show. It’s not that I think, hey, I’m finally allowed to go alone, rather the other way around.”

He continues: “I think my strength also lies in facilitating a platform on which a creative person like Sander can do whatever he wants. I’ll just call it the Wilfred Genee feature. The other two are the stars, but Wilfred is just as important. That’s how I see myself a bit.”

At ease

Sander has the same feelings. “On Fridays I feel more at ease. Then we’ll just pick up where we left off last June. You immediately feel what kind of forces are released.”

Solo, Coen cannot give himself one hundred percent. “I really like what I do, but on Fridays I am 100 percent in my strength.”

Warm bath

It is mainly Coen who does not seem to be able to find his way solo. He constantly shows that he would rather just continue with Sander again. “It’s a warm bath, every Friday afternoon. I still think it’s the best thing to do, I’m very honest about that.”

When asked if they would like to make a daily show together again, Sander replies: “Definitely!”

Coen: “The wind has to be in the right direction, but yes, of course. Fortunately, neither of us have become unhappy in what we do, but the love for the Coen and Sander Show will always be there.”

Fresh and fruity

Sander ‘believes’ in the duo Coen and Sander. “There aren’t many duos better in the radio field. Of course we also have eighteen years of experience, but I think we still sound fresh and fruity.”

Coen: “It is very nice to notice that after eighteen years of working together, we are talking to you and still both say: on Friday we will go into the studio together and that just makes us very happy.”
