Adding music is not provided by WhatsApp
Although the news service WhatsApp, which belongs to the Meta Group, has equipped the status function with a few features, such as sharing links, photos and videos or text messages, many users have been waiting in vain for a way to share music in the status. However, you can bypass this limitation with a small detour: First, you start the playback of the intended song via the loudspeakers in your music player or Spotify. It is important not to set the volume too low, otherwise the cell phone’s microphone will not be able to record the music at all or only too quietly. Now open WhatsApp and navigate to the “Status” tab. Here you select the camera button. After the camera opens, follow the on-screen instructions to hold down the shutter button to record a video. During video recording, the music that is output through the speakers is recorded at the same time. Unfortunately, it cannot be prevented that the audio quality suffers somewhat here. Ideally, you should be in a quiet place so that no background noise is picked up. If no suitable video motif is available, it makes sense to cover the camera lens so that only a black screen can be seen later in the status itself.
Also share songs as a link
If the above variant is too cumbersome, you can also use an alternative in which only the link to a song is shared: You open Spotify or YouTube, for example, and call up the desired song. In the YouTube app, the “Share” button is just below the playback window, in the case of Spotify it’s hidden behind a menu that can be opened by selecting the three dots next to a track. After pressing the “Share” button, select WhatsApp from the following selection. Now you can send the link to the song or the music video to friends or share it in the status.
