NK title Scheperkamp at 500 meters, N’tab qualifies for World Cup

Merijn Scheperkamp has once again proven to be in good shape. The 22-year-old skater from Hilversum became Dutch champion in the 500 meters in Thialf tonight. That was the first time in his skating career. He already won the European Championship sprint in Hamar, Norway, last month.

Scheperkamp was the fastest in the 500 meters in both rounds. He has also immediately qualified for the 500 meters at the World Championship distances. Amsterdammer Dai Dai N’tab (second fastest time) and Hein Otterspeer (third fastest time) also qualified for the World Championship. These will be held from 2 to 5 March in the Frisian Thialf. Incidentally, defending champion Kai Verbij did not participate, he is struggling with a groin injury.
