Vilho Palosaari: the youth world championship!

Finland Vilho Palosaari18, made an effort last night in Whistler, Canada to become the world junior ski jumping champion.

Palosaari won the normal mountain race with a difference of 0.6 points over Austria to Jonas Schuster. Polish Jan Habdas took the youth WC bronze.

The longest jump of the Finnish promise was 130.5 meters.

Finland last won the ski jumping junior world championship 18 years ago. Joonas Ikonen tried for gold in 2005. The same achievement has been achieved previously by, among others Matti Nykänen, Janne Ahonen and Toni Nieminen.

Palosaari has risen to the men’s national team as well. The young athlete participated in the Central European hill week for the first time this season and was the best Finn in two races.

Tomas Kuisma was 25th in the normal mountain world championship. Kasperi Valto took 30th place, Tuomas Meis was 35

The competition day was successful for Finland, because Niko Anttola won the world championship in cross-country skiing in the ten kilometer free race.
