Angela de Jong has received angry messages from Joep School, the editor-in-chief of Khalid & Sophie. “I said to him: ‘So you think this is a powerful rebuttal?!’, and then it was suddenly silent.”
Presenter Khalid Kasem has received a lot of criticism because he left an environmental activist very deflated last week at Khalid & Sophie’s talk show table. At one point he shouted that the regime in Iran would be cheering if they saw how our government treats demonstrators.
Khalid’s reply
The fact that there was hardly any reply from Khalid has led to bewilderment, also at Today Inside. However, Khalid intervened during the broadcast by texting Wilfred Genee that he did respond to that activist. For he said, “That’s up to you, because I don’t know if you can compare the two.”
Angela de Jong thinks that is much too weak, she responds in the AD Media podcast. “Well, I know that, because that is not possible. It was a huge stammer of, “Yeah, I don’t know if you’re right.” Khalid himself made things a little better at VI when he wanted to rebuke Johan Derksen that he had replied.”
Whispering Earpiece
The presenter of the podcast, Manuel Venderbos, also wonders whether that comment really came from Khalid. “It even seemed – I watched the fragment a few times – as if he was hearing it in his earpiece, like: ‘Hey, you have to respond to this.’”
Angela: “That could very well be.”
She thinks Khalid has failed. “Really bizarre. I think it’s really bad that you just let this pass as a talk show host. We’re also talking about Khalid and he’s just not a very good talk show host. One of the problems he constantly runs into is that he doesn’t listen to the people at the table.”

Angela has one damning column written about the conscious broadcast of Khalid & Sophie. “Then BNNVARA will of course text again to say: ‘Yes, I think it’s very silly that you don’t mention Khalid’s rebuttal.’ So I said, ‘So you think that incoherent stammering of… Is that what you mean by strong rebuttal?’”
