Substitute leaves BVB – details revealed

Now it’s official: Thorgan Hazard is leaving Borussia Dortmund for the time being and will join PSV Eindhoven until the end of the season. Several details were leaked as part of the transfer.

In the past few days, the change had already been indicated, and on Tuesday evening both clubs finally reported the completion. Thorgan Hazard is loaned out by BVB to PSV Eindhoven.

“Thorgan Hazard has approached us with the desire to be loaned to a club where he plays regularly. Eindhoven, third in the Eredivisie, is in the middle of a championship fight and is still in the Europa League,” said BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl on the club’s website about the deal.

BVB wish Hazard “a lot of time and maximum sporting success for the coming months,” said the Dortmund manager.

Hazard himself said: “This loan is the best solution for everyone at the moment. During the next five months I can gain match practice at a high level with a club that is very ambitious. I wish my teammates at BVB the best possible for the second half of the season Success in all three competitions.”

BVB saves Hazard’s salary

The 29-year-old completed the medical check at PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday. Under BVB head coach Edin Terzic, the Belgian had only played a supporting role in recent months.

“Sky” reporter Sven Westerschulze revealed the details of the transfer early Tuesday evening. As a result, Borussia Dortmund will receive a loan fee of around 500,000 euros from the traditional Dutch club.

In addition, PSV Eindhoven should take over Hazard’s full salary of around 2.5 to 3 million euros for the period, it is said.

The veteran switched from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Dortmund in 2019 for 25.5 million euros.
