The Sport 2000 trading association, which is part of the ANWR Group, set another sales record in the 2022 financial year. “With an increase of 22 percent in the purchasing volume, a new record value was reached in the consolidated external sales of the German trading partners of 3.31 billion euros,” the company announced on Tuesday. The external sales in the so-called “five-country group”, which includes Germany as well as Switzerland and the Benelux countries, was 4.35 billion euros.
According to the company, “catch-up effects” also contributed to the strong growth after the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic had weighed on demand in certain product categories in previous years. The areas of team sports (+38.7 percent) and alpine skiing (+73.8 percent) were able to achieve above-average sales increases.
In the current year, Sport 2000 intends to continue growing. “We expect growth of up to 8 percent for 2023,” said Managing Director Margit Gosau in a statement. According to the association, the increase is to be achieved “particularly through the additional acquisition of strong partners and the targeted conceptual support of the partner companies”.
“The further expansion and internationalization of the Absolute formats for specialists will be essential here,” emphasized Gosau. “With Absolute Teamsport we are currently represented with 23 stores in 6 countries. By the end of 2023 there should be 35 locations in 9 countries.” The number of branches in the Absolute Run format is to be increased from nine to twelve over the course of the year, not least due to openings in other European countries.
