Next tremor in the US soccer association

The US Soccer Association just can’t get any rest.

Sports director Earnie Stewart and general manager Brian McBride are resigning after the row over former national team coach Gregg Berhalter, who is being investigated by US Soccer. Stewart will move to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven on March 1, with McBride resigning.

Association President Cindy Parlow Cone announced on Thursday that US Soccer had commissioned a consulting firm (Sportsology Group) to carry out a full review of the sports department during the crisis. Because of the vacancies in three important positions, you want to consciously take your time. “We’re not going to rush anything,” said Parlow Cone.

The US association has launched an investigation into Berhalter, whose contract expired after the World Cup, because of a long-ago physical attack on his current wife Rosalind. In Qatar, the US team had reached the round of 16. The United States is co-hosting the 2026 World Cup with Mexico and Canada.
