Captain Niclas Pieczkowski will leave the handball Bundesliga club GWD Minden, which is threatened with relegation, at the end of the season.
As the Mindener announced on Monday, the 33-year-old had rejected an offer to extend the contract for personal reasons. The 41-time German national player was on the record for the GWD for two years.
“We know that Niclas is a family man and of course we accept his decision. We would have liked to keep him as a leading player, but often it’s not just the sporting things that are decisive in life,” said GWD Managing Director Nils Torbrügge.
