Connect Bluetooth speaker to cell phone

The Bluetooth speaker has become an absolute must-have gadget. Whether camping, at the lake and in the park or at home – you can play music quickly and easily with it. The connection with the smartphone is done quickly. TECHBOOK shows how it’s done.

Bluetooth speakers are incredibly practical: you can take music with you anywhere in decent quality and problems such as a broken cable or a defective jack connection are a thing of the past. Many models are now even waterproof and offer the latest audio technologies. The sound comes from the smartphone – either from your own collection or from music streaming services such as Spotify, Amazon Music and Co. Users only have to connect their Bluetooth speaker to their cell phone, which works in just a few steps.

What is Bluetooth actually and what does it mean?

Bluetooth is an industry standard developed in the 1990s for radio transmission of data over a relatively short distance. The standard is continuously being developed, the current version is Bluetooth 5.3.

By the way, the name giver is the Viking king Harald Blåtand. He united Norway and Sweden into one administrative entity in the 10th century. Since they wanted to develop a universal data exchange with Bluetooth, it seemed only fitting, especially since the decisive development step came from the Swedish company Ericsson. Blåtand (German: Blauzahn) eventually became Bluetooth. The logo therefore shows a monogram from the two Nordic runes for H and B; if you also rotate it 90 degrees clockwise, it looks like two teeth.
