Digital fashion brand ‘House of Blueberry’ raises $6 million

Digital fashion brand House of Blueberry has announced a new $6 million seed funding to secure its place as “the premier fashion house in the Metaverse.”

In a statement to FashionUnited, the company said the funds will go toward expanding into new Metaverse environments, which it’s already active on open-world platforms like Roblox and Second Life. With this move, the brand hopes to reach a wider audience in games and online communities, areas that emphasize the importance of user-generated content and self-expression.

House of Blueberry hopes the new funding will accelerate that goal and help the company stay focused on its mission to advance women’s design and aesthetics in a largely male-dominated tech industry.

In addition, the company also wants to gain a foothold in other product categories such as accessories, makeup and environmental products.

The company was founded in 2012 by Gizem “Mishi” McDuff, who started out as an independent designer in Second Life. To date, the brand has sold more than 20 million virtual garments and firmly believes that digital fashion is a driving force for user identity.
