Angela de Jong delivered a small sneer to Wendy van Dijk on the last day of the year. “At SBS, no one really knows what to do with her anymore.”
It is quite a bit sad for Wendy van Dijk. After her successful start time at SBS 6 with programs such as Ushi & Van Dijk and Hart in Aktie, the presenter has had enormous success with all RTL 4 versions of The Voice. But now that she’s back at SBS 6, her career seems a bit over.
Wendy not to Poland
In fact, no one has any idea what Wendy is actually making anymore. Very occasionally she still speaks, for example when she is standing next to a madly dancing lady or when she has broken her latest low record. The final blow was recently dealt by Even Tot Hier, who portrayed her as Talpa’s flop lady.
Wendy was also discredited after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, because it was communicated that she would travel to the Polish-Ukrainian border to help the people. Only problem: the presenter herself was not aware of this. Someone at the charity had thought of that for her. In the end she didn’t go.
Angela sneers
The incident was briefly discussed in RTL Boulevard’s New Year’s Eve special last night. “I was told that Wendy was going, but she didn’t know it herself!”, says presenter Loretta Schrijver.
Angela de Jong afterwards: “I think that is fairly typical of Wendy van Dijk’s TV career. I mean: she is there, she is supposedly the big star at SBS, but nobody really knows what to do with her.”
Painful.
Fallen stars
The Boulevard special was also about all the fallen stars of 2022. “It was the year of the fallen stars, I think. They fell in droves,” says Angela.
She was also disappointed in the candle incident with the men of VI. “How is it possible in this year that we have heard all about The Voice? How can you sit there at the table laughing like that?”
‘F*cking God’
Matthijs van Nieuwkerk was of course also included. Steven Brunswijk was the spiciest about him: “You’re not f*cking God. You can just f*cking act normal, right?”
And writer Marion Pauw laughs: “I’ve never been invited to DWDD, so I didn’t really like Matthijs myself.”
