A truck full of chickens drove off a bridge near Coevorden this morning. The accident happened just across the border in Laar, Germany.
On the Kanalstrasse it went wrong with a truck combination from the Netherlands. The truck made it over the bridge over the Coevorden-Piccardie Canal, but the trailer slid off the bridge.
Many chickens died in the accident. According to the Emlichheim police, several thousand chickens were on their way to slaughter. The bridge over the Coevorden-Piccardie Canal is temporarily closed.
