Soccer national player Benjamin Henrichs from RB Leipzig financed 5,000 reading books for children in Ghana.
According to the international aid organization World Vision, which is involved in the campaign, the 25-year-old, who himself has Ghanaian roots, wants to promote education in his second home country.
“The ability to read is the key”
“Every child in this world deserves to look forward to a promising future, to lead a self-determined life, to have the chance to change something. The ability to read is the key to all of this,” said Henrichs, who has been with us since 2021 is under contract with cup winners Leipzig.
The illustrated booklets contain age-appropriate stories in the various national languages and are intended to be read in reading camps. After the camp, the children can take the notebooks home to continue practicing.
