Football legend Pelé is apparently still on the mend after a respiratory infection, but there can still be no question of being released from the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo. This was announced by the treating doctors of the 82-year-old on Monday.
“The patient continues to show improvement in his clinical condition, particularly in relation to respiratory infection,” the bulletin said. Pele continues to occupy “a normal room” and his “vital signs” are “stable,” the hospital said.
In September 2021, a tumor on the colon was surgically removed from the three-time world champion, and Pelé has been undergoing chemotherapy since then. This should be re-evaluated when it was posted two weeks ago. According to his family, his respiratory infection is due to a corona infection that he contracted three weeks ago.
Two of Pelé’s daughters, Kely Nascimento and Flavia Arantes, have been taking to social media to reassure fans after rumors of his health deteriorating dramatically.
Contributions have also been continuously published by Pelé’s Instagram profile in the past few days. Among other things, Pelé used this to comfort stars Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo after Brazil and Portugal were eliminated from the World Cup.
