Moist Esports lost to Gen.G in the finals of the Rocket League Championship Series Fall Majors in Rotterdam. The European esports team lost 2:4 (3:1; 0:1; 1:2; 2:1; 1:4; 2:3) to the Anglo-American mixed team.
“Second place in the Major,” Moist player Finlay “rise” Ferguson tweeted after the game. “I’m happy for Gen.G, they deserve it. Beyond that, I can’t be prouder of our first Lan performance as a team.”
Before that, Moist managed to defeat fan-favorite Karmine Corp in the quarterfinals with a dominating 4-1. Against the strong defense of the Brazilian Team Secret, the European players prevailed in the semi-finals, taking advantage of every tiny mistake made by their opponents and winning 4-2.
Moist player Joe “Joyo” Young was confident after the semifinals: “It’s going to be a free win!” he said, looking ahead to the final.
RLCS Fall Major: Moist loses in overtime
In the previous games, the European players discovered a rhythm that opened up chances of victory. Moist started strong on the first map and won the round 3-1 through strong team play. On the second and third map, the overtime was particularly fatal to the players. Both times, Gen.G took the win in overtime and seized momentum from Moist.
At map four, Moist only managed to win a game one final time. Then Gen.G was unstoppable in his triumphal march and played goal after goal towards the final victory.
