The Minister of Economic Development of the Sakhalin Region Alexei Uspensky, against whom a criminal case of negligence in the performance of official duties has been opened, has been removed from office, reported on the local government website.

The message states that the minister will not perform his duties during the internal investigation. “In relation to Alexei Uspensky, a criminal case was brought to court in connection with the improper performance of his official duties in 2018,” the government explains.

The position will be temporarily occupied by the first deputy Uspensky Marina Agliulina.

Uspensky is suspected of a crime under part 1.1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence in the performance of official duties that caused particularly large damage). He faces a fine, compulsory or corrective labor, or arrest for up to six months.
