Passchendaele Museum had a good year and is building a VR space
The Passchendaele Museum closed its doors on 5 December this year. A little earlier than usual due to the planned museum works. The cinema room where the film about the battle of Passchendaele was shown will be converted into a virtual reality room. There, the visitor will be immersed in a total experience in a story from and the landscape of 1917.
“Visitor figures are much higher than initially estimated (59,000). The highlight was the month of October with more than 12,000 visitors. These are figures that remind us of the pre-covid period. This concerns both Flemish and foreign visitors. Abroad, the museum is especially popular with the Dutch, but the British also return after the covid period to visit the Westhoek, Zonnebeke and our museum. We are already looking forward to February 1, 2023 to once again explain to visitors the story of the Battle of Passchendaele,” says Joachim Jonckheere, Chairman of the Passchendaele Museum.
