HC Erlangen’s horror series continues

HC Erlangen has finally fallen back into midfield in the Handball Bundesliga.

The surprise team of the first game days conceded their sixth defeat in a row at 31:37 (15:19) against old champions VfL Gummersbach and slipped in the table behind the promoted team from Oberberg. In the next game, the Franconians are guests at champions SC Magdeburg (December 17).

Most recently, Erlangen had annoyed the top teams SG Flensburg-Handewitt, THW Kiel, Rhein-Neckar Löwen and Füchse Berlin.

“But of course it also gnaws at you when you end up without any points again and again,” said captain Sebastian Firnhaber. Against Gummersbach, the self-image of the first games was visibly missing.

In the other games of the 16th matchday on Thursday evening, HSV Hamburg won against bottom-placed ASV Hamm-Westfalen 32:25 (16:12) and TBV Lemgo Lippe against HSG Wetzlar 34:29 (16:14).
