Ukraine, pending Belarus
The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhniy, told the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, the situation on the border with Belarus, a country where Russia has a considerable military contingent stationed. “We are closely following the actions of the enemy on the border with Belarus and are building a reliable shield to defend Ukraine from the north,” he noted in the conversation. The mention of Belarus was not accidental: this Saturday the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, traveled to Minsk, where he signed with his Belarusian colleague, Víktor Khrenin, a protocol of amendments, of secret content, to the bilateral agreement to guarantee security regional military agreement signed in December 1997. Ukrainian authorities accuse the regime of Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko of being complicit in Russian aggression, and have warned Minsk that if Belarusian soldiers set foot on Ukrainian soil, the response of the Ukrainian Army will be devastating.
