Police investigations show that the victim and suspect do not know each other. “The victim was walking his dog when he heard screaming and glass breaking in Talmastraat. There he saw that the suspect destroyed a window of a house and car. When the suspect saw him, he approached the 68-year-old victim, worked him to the ground and punched and kicked him,” said the police spokesperson. The suspect had a knife with him, but would not have stabbed with it.
It is still unclear why the 36-year-old man attacked the victim and destroyed windows on Talmastraat. “That will have to be proven by the investigation. We have investigated traces, heard several witnesses. But more witness statements are still welcome,” says the police.
