ACV women after defeat in Haarlem: ‘We long for the winter break’

ACV lost 2-1 to DSS from Haarlem in the top class of women’s football. Trainer Sven Krol acknowledged that the defeat was justified.

Krol: ,,It’s been a tough few weeks with our debut in the top division and there are quite a few players with slight physical discomfort. At the training sessions last week I only had eight or nine available. We didn’t look fresh this afternoon.”

DSS took the upper hand from the start, but ACV was very dangerous in the few Asser counterattacks. Laura Heling hit the post and the promising rebound was not spent on Dionne Keizer. Amber Bandringa also just missed the goal of Haarlem keeper Marese Meester.

After the break, not much changed in the game image. DSS started, ACV mainly defended. In the 68 e minute fell the 1-0, a shot from a good distance ended behind Isabella Slump in the ropes: 1-0. Moments later, DDS doubled their lead with a nice goal: 2-0. Sven Krol let his team play one on one and brought in fresh forces with Anouk de Vegt and Esmee de Vries. It still made the connection. A corner kick by Gabriëlla Hut was converted into a goal by Laura Heling: 2-1.

Krol: ,,Unfortunately, not much time was added, but if I’m honest, it wasn’t really an option for us. That’s part of it. We are longing for the winter break and it is all still close together at the bottom.” ACV is eighth and receives DTS ’35 Ede on Saturday.
