Handball record champion THW Kiel has to do without his backcourt player Steffen Weinhold for several months.
As the Bundesliga team announced, the 36-year-old left-handed player suffered a partial tear of the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the game against VfL Gummersbach (31:28).
Shortly before the end of the encounter, Weinhold collided with an opponent’s knee. “An operation is not necessary, Steffen is being treated conservatively and initially has to wear a splint,” said THW team doctor Dr. Frank Pries: “If the healing process goes well, we expect a downtime of around three months.”
