Alarm at the Christmas market: an unknown person caused a large-scale police operation on Sunday evening. Police officers with submachine guns secured the area along Alexanderplatz.

According to BZ information, a call was received at the emergency call center around 6:30 p.m. A man threatened to drive a vehicle into the Alex Christmas market.

Just like the attack on the Christmas market at Breitscheidplatz in 2016 with 13 dead and many injured. big alarm!

Heavily armed police units blocked the tunnel on Grunerstraße and checked numerous drivers. Roads around the Christmas market have been closed. Entrances secured. Checks everywhere.

Fortunately, the all-clear was given around 8:50 p.m. – intensive investigations came to the conclusion that there had been no serious threat. Now the suspected abuse of emergency calls is being investigated, the police said.
