The Eisbären Berlin still lack the necessary consistency in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

On Friday evening, the German champions lost against the Nürnberg Ice Tigers 2:3 (1:2, 1:0, 0:0, 0:0 0:1) after a penalty shootout and thus suffered their seventh home defeat of the current season. Goals from Kevin Clark and Marcel Noebels were only enough for the capital city team to get a point after a mixed performance.

In front of 10,730 spectators in the arena at the Ostbahnhof, the hosts started powerfully and took the lead early on through a goal from Clark when they played with a majority for the first time. On the defensive, however, the Berliners made a few inattentions, which were consistently punished by the guests. The goals of former Eisbären pro Blake Parlett and Hayden Shaw ensured that Nuremberg went into the first break with a narrow lead.

After the restart, the Berliners struggled for a long time against the Franconians, who were defending in a concentrated manner, but were able to use another power play: Noebels scored to equalize.

The final third and extra time remained goalless for both teams despite a few good chances. Patrick Reimer made the shutout the decision in favor of the guests.
