The edition of the prestigious fado festival which will take place on November 24, 25 and 26 at the Kirchner Cultural Center, With free entry. In this twelfth installment, the Portuguese singer will return to our stages Marisathe current fado star, who will review his new album “Mariza Sings Amália” (tribute to the legendary Amalia Rodrigues), along with his greatest hits.
The artist, with twenty years of experience and more than thirty platinum records achieved, is one of the greatest exponents of fado, thanks to hits like “Gente da minha terra”, “Cavaleiro monge” and “Meu fado”. The singer has performed throughout her career at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Sydney Opera House, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and the Albéniz Theater in Madridto mention just a few prestigious venues.
Nominated twice for the Latin Grammysthe vocalist has also dabbled in acting by being one of the main stars of the movie “Fado” (2007)by the Spanish filmmaker Carlos Sauraas well as the protagonist of the documentary “Mariza and the History of Fado”produced by music critic Simon Broughton. Before Mariza’s concert, on Saturday the 26th at the CCK, there will be a conference on david ferreiraauthor of numerous courses on the History of Portuguese popular music.
On the other hand, Buba Espinhoone of the best exponents of fado, who has passed through the most iconic fado houses in Lisbon and plans an international career, arrives in Buenos Aires as part of the international festival.
Despite his youth, Buba Espinho already has a long musical career, which began with the singwhere he was part of various groups, such as the Adiafa, A Moda Mãe and Os Bubedanas. A long road that ended up consecrating the winner of the legendary Great Night of Fado. Currently, the singer is one of the most anticipated promises of the new generation of fadistas.
The latest guests are made up of the duo integrated into the voice of camané and the piano of Mario Laginha: two artists who embody the very spirit of the Lisbon neighborhoods, who have played together on various occasions and have established a musical complicity that will be revealed on the same stage.
The duo will interpret the themes of “Here it is-be calm“, an artistic project with which they obtained a nomination for Latin Grammys and which includes twenty songs, including fados taken from the traditional canon, songs from Camané’s repertoire and unpublished compositions by Mário Laginha.
In its twelfth edition, the festival“Fado and the Sea” seeks to promote art and the Portuguese language through 13 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, with artists, conferences, films, and exhibitions representative of the Portuguese culture.
