The Berlin Volleys have extended their lead in the volleyball Bundesliga with the current closest pursuer.

In the seventh game of the national league, the defending champions came 3:1 (25:10, 18:25, 25:20, 26:24) over the SWD Powervolleys Düren on Saturday evening to their seventh victory and added Düren to their second league defeat. The Berliners had to do without their coach Cedric Enard. The Frenchman had tested positive for the corona virus in the morning and then returned to Berlin.

The defending champion, who will have to do without captain Angel Trinidad at least until the end of the year due to a metacarpal fracture, certainly played down the first set and was quickly 11:4 in the lead. The Berliners drew on this lead and won the first round by converting the first of a total of 14 set balls. The picture changed in the second set. For their part, the hosts quickly led 13:4 and won round number two with a seven-point lead.

The third set was extremely balanced. Neither team was able to pull away at first. At 16:14, the volleys led for the first time by two points and won the second set at 19:15 and 22:16.

In the last round, the BR Volleys quickly gained a three-point cushion at 6:3, but Düren countered and kept the decision open until 24:24 before Berlin showed itself very effectively.
