Alexander Zverev infected with Corona

Tennis Olympic champion Alexander Zverev suffered a small setback around three weeks before his comeback after months of injury and became infected with Corona. The 25-year-old said this on Saturday during a video switch to the ZDF show “Wetten Dass…?”. Actually, Zverev should be present personally at the live broadcast in Friedrichshafen.

“I would love to be with you, but unfortunately I tested positive four days ago. It’s a shame, have fun,” said the native of Hamburg.

Zverev, who recently slipped out of the top 10 in the world rankings, wants to play a few show tournaments before the start of the new tennis year. The first endurance test is to take place in Saudi Arabia at the Diriyah Tennis Cup (December 8th to 10th).

At the French Open in early June, Zverev suffered multiple torn ligaments in his foot in the semifinals against eventual winner Rafael Nadal (Spain). Shortly before his planned return in September, a setback followed and with it the end of the season.
