Still without a scorer point
After the presentation of Schalke 04, the World Cup break should be a chance for Jordan Larsson to turn things around in his personal misery. It’s high time for the Swede to convince the Royal Blues of his usefulness on the pitch. Otherwise, the commitment to the S04 could remain a short interlude. Sports director Peter Knäbel did that in an interview with the “WAZ“Clearly, by criticizing the 25-year-old striker quite clearly.
“He swam along in the games where he was substituted on. But we didn’t get him for that, that can’t be his self-image either,” Knäbel is quoted as saying by the newspaper. In numbers, Larsson’s Schalke record since the sensational summer transfer is as follows: ten competitive games, four from the start, all still under ex-coach Frank Kramer, zero goals, zero assists. Since the change, his market value has fallen by half to 4 million euros. Knäbel asks himself: “Couldn’t he? Didn’t he want to? Is it in the muscles? Is it in your head? We’ll do everything we can to find out which button he needs to press.”

The long break in the Bundesliga is now a good opportunity to “look at the player individually”. Otherwise, Schalke and Larsson could part ways again in the near future. Knäbel did not confirm that the son of Sweden legend Henrik Larsson is actually considered a candidate for a change, but according to the report also conceded that a player sometimes needs time after changing clubs. But time had already passed “without having the feeling that there was a big impact,” says Knäbel. “And we don’t have forever. This is professional football.”
You have to tell a player that he wants to and gives gas. Unfortunately, Larsson hasn’t had that before when he came in. In our situation, you can’t give someone “4 to 5 games to watch” – actually, hardly any club can do that. So I understand Knäbel on this point. He must want to show himself and just swam along. That’s not enough then. …
